Some NYC brokers don't do basic homework (even on units they are selling), or are lying (about square footage, south facing central park views, etc). Most delegate a lot of what should be their work to RE attorneys. Most NYC brokers seem to be behind the rest of the US broker industry in technology (paper forms for everything, vs. electronic etc.), though ahead of the rest of the US in creative "virtual staging" and "virtual renovation". And in NYC brokers are paid quite a bit more than counterparts outside the city, due to high price of real estate here and fixed % commissions. Is this the city's fault somehow? What is NYC doing wrong that results in this situation? Is there a much lower bar to enter the industry here? Note: obviously complaint does not apply to exceptional brokers on this board like Ali and 30yrs. [less]
