Greetings: I am the former tenant in this unit who just moved my family out on May 14, 2023, so I have first hand knowledge of this unit. I am also using my real name here which is easily researched to see that I am a real person and community leader in BedStuy. The pictures and description paint a very misleading and even fraudulent description of this apartment. I would STRONGLY advise against posting and/or renting this unit from this landlord or utilizing listings from the brokerage Nooklyn. There are many details in this listing that are false or at best misleading: First this unit is infested with RATS (the main reason we moved out after months of complaints). They are not only in the walls but have been inside the unit as well. There is no central A/C in the apartment (save for one unit they installed in the back room AFTER we moved in when the radiator heat proved not to work in the backroom that leads out to the yard. The radiator heat also does not work--the apartment is frequently very cold on the first and second level. The water heater had a major leak which flooded the basement level back room and damaged many of our things in that space. And there is NO heat source at all in the basement level whatsoever--we had to install a wall mounted heater and use space heaters to warm the area downstairs as best we could. From the first day we moved in there were many leaks from the old plumbing that was not properly installed and/or addressed. There were also issues with the seal between the ground level backroom and the kitchen area that produced leaks from the ceiling and wall whenever it rained. Even though we consistently and persistently brought these issues to the attention of the landlord over 5 months they were not properly or fully addressed. Still we were willing to be patient until we found the dead rat in our basement living room (thank goodness we had a cat!). This was the last straw and what precipitated our moving out. Even the images of the backyard are misleading as it is in terrible repair and rat infested. The photos are VERY misleading and I strongly advise that you do not rent this apartment or utilize the broker Nooklyn as they were aware of these issues yet marketed and continue to market this apartment any way as a newly renovated and high quality apartment for more than $4000/month in rent! Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or would like additional information: rafiqkalamiddin@gmail.com. I hope this is helpful to whomever reads this and wish you the best of luck on your apartment search. Sincerely, Rafiq Kalam Id-Din [less]
