Putting a stove in front of a window

Hi all, Has anyone had any experience putting a gas stove in front of a window in NYC? I haven't found any regulation that says "no", but wan't to be certain that we aren't doing something against code. Stove would be gas, since we just found out our apartment doesn't have the voltage to support an electric...Hooray to being new home owners! Thanks for your help! Rocky and Mike
