Discussion about Knox at 49 East 34th Street in Murray Hill
Agree with other comments on this building. The staff is awesome, friendliest people I have ever had in any other building in NY. But management is terrible. The latest in the saga has been the elevator snafu. With about 36 floors, there are only two elevators, one of which seems to be down all the time, leaving only one elevator working. This means we have to wait for 5-10 min for an elevator. One of the reasons people live here is because it is close to everything and you can get to most places in Manhattan in under 20 min. But adding in the time to wait the elevator... not so much. So the key selling point of this building is not there any more. We even had moments where NO elevator was working AND we didn't have gas. I lost a couple lbs from not being able to order Seamless (who is going to climb all the floors?) or having to go up and down ~30 floors to get food. Looking at the silver-lining :) I understand elevators can have issues, but considering some other incidents we had with gas (we didn't have gas for about 4 months at one point, forget about cooking or hosting dinners), this suggests management has not been taking proper care of maintenance and repair. Rental prices here are fully priced, they should budget in expenses to have frequent checks that everything is running properly. Looks like they are just pocketing in that money. The re-branding from Madison Park Tower to The Knox seems like a way to get all their bad reviews behind them. Will not renew lease this time. We have been holding just because it is a huge pain moving, but for paying top bucks we can find much better options. Note: they show the amazing rooftop to new people coming to see the building, guess what - we we are forbidden to use it cause the walls are too low (or so we have been told). How hard is to just add a small fence on top of it? [less]
