Beware of this building and the surrounding buildings on Pacific St. It has had an ongoing bedbug problem since at least 2008, continuing as of May 2014, with no signs of being cured by an exterminator. We endured many months of painful, horribly itchy bedbug bites, at least four extermination attempts, to no avail. We saw bedbugs run across our pillow and sitting next to our bed. This is even after getting mattress covers, drilling poison into the walls, doing steam treatments, chemical treatments, the whole nine yards. Nothing worked. We learned that the bedbugs are in various units in the building -- multiple floors. There are tenants that have been in the building for decades and refuse to let an exterminator into their apartment. The landlord/management company doesn't care and is defensive of the tenants not wanting extermination treatments. You as the tenant have to deal with the problem yourself. But even if you spray your own unit repeatedly, the bedbugs still come back in through the walls. The landlord did not disclose this to us when we moved in, as is required by New York City law (take note! It's a law -- a broker or landlord has to provide a rider to your lease called "Bedbug History Disclosure Form". If they don't, they are violating the law). Please avoid all buildings on Pacific St between Smith and Boerum Place. Bedbugs all over. [less]
