what do you think about carroll gardens?

Hello, Just curious what the gang thinks about carroll gardens as a potential place to move to and start a family? We live in Brooklyn but haven't been down that way in years. We found a spot that's nice, but curious about what people think. Want to raise a kid there for at least 5-10 years. School district is supposed to be good. Is it safe? The place we are looking at is towards the end of court, a few blocks from the BQE. Wife is worried about pollution from BQE. And what about gowanus and now the superfund cleanup? thanks for ANY help! newbie
