reverse commute to long island from nyc

hi everyone, i got a job at great neck long island and i live in lower east side, right next to williamsburg bridge. we are trying to decide whether we should move to li or commute. we like living in manhattan. but more so, we have a wonderful nanny whom we do not want to lose. i am wondering what would be the best way to commute? i am checking out the google maps, it is showing the bqe-lie route.... hi everyone, i got a job at great neck long island and i live in lower east side, right next to williamsburg bridge. we are trying to decide whether we should move to li or commute. we like living in manhattan. but more so, we have a wonderful nanny whom we do not want to lose. i am wondering what would be the best way to commute? i am checking out the google maps, it is showing the bqe-lie route. but i am wondering if this is the best way or not (is the traffic better or worse than the midtown tunnel?). i will be driving around 7-7:15 in the morning and around 5-6:00 pm in th evening back to the city. i do not like driving per se. so another option is to leave my car at the train station in li and take the train. but then i need to commute to penn station. i am sooo puzzled, please help!
