"Zoned" Middle Schools in Park Slope

I don't know why this site always lists a "zoned" middle school for each property in Park Slope, when there are no longer any zoned middle schools in Park Slope. Perhaps schools are still officially listed that way by the DOE, but that has nothing to do with how students enter middle school here. I don't know why this site always lists a "zoned" middle school for each property in Park Slope, when there are no longer any zoned middle schools in Park Slope. Perhaps schools are still officially listed that way by the DOE, but that has nothing to do with how students enter middle school here. To get into middle school a student must rank his or her top choices in District 15 by order of preference. The student is then placed in a particular school depending on the way the child ranked the school, assuming that the students grades meets the admissions criteria (MS 51 requires a certain minimum grade on state tests - the minimum score changes every year.) To list a "zoned" school is misleading. It implies that a child living in that house has a right to go to that school (or will be "stuck" going to that school, depeding on how you look at it.)
