My experience over the past few years in this so-called "luxury” building has been of the cheapest possible fixtures, mould in the walls and floorboards, cigarette smoke traveling through the vents, and thin walls that transmit every sound from neighbouring apartments. The building began a cosmetic remodeling project of its lobby in February 2020, shortly before the pandemic shut down NYC. This was unfortunate timing, as it required all residents to funnel through an approx. 8 ft. wide corridor to enter and exit the building, through the sub-basement service entrance, under conditions where it is impossible to socially distance safely. This congestion could have been lessened by sensible actions such as by opening up additional side entrances to foot traffic, but this was not done, presumably because it would cost money to staff extra entrances. The renovation project, which was originally expected to take 5 months but didn't finish until late November, was made even worse by a second cosmetic remodeling project, which shut down one of three elevators on each side of the building, beginning in October 2020. Finally, the managing agency is raising rents at a time that demand is plummeting. Do your own research, and rent elsewhere. [less]
