A bit of background: Before covid, we were looking to buy an apartment in the city and had a realtor that we were very happy with. Since covid, we've decided that we'd rather buy a place in the Catskills and split up our time between there and the city. Because the Catskills market has been a feeding frenzy, we've found that realtors there (at least if you're a buyer) are not so responsive... And this has me wondering: what would be wrong with using our realtor from the city to represent us and help us with the legwork involved in finding a home? So I know our city realtor won't know the area as well as local realtors, but we know the area we are interested in pretty well (my parents live in the area and we've visited a lot over the years) and we are pretty clear on what we're looking for. Also we don't need our realtor to come with us on home tours- we mainly want help filtering places down based on specific criteria and organizing showings (this has been very time consuming, especially given how unresponsive some agents have been)...
