I went to view an apartment. When I met the broker (broker A), they showed me the listing I was there to see, and another one in the building next door that they said they had not listed yet. I liked the second unlisted one but as I started emailing Broker A I started getting a bad feeling. The listing I went to see was no Fee, but this second apartment had a fee of half the rent. He then asked me to send a $500 refundable good faith deposit, but wanted me to bring cash, check or Zelle it to his brokerage firm. When I asked what the $500 would be applied to he evaded the question. Overall, something seemed off so I decided I was not comfortable. Then I found that second apartment is on Street Easy under another Brokerage firm for more money and the listing was posted April 29th (Broker B). When I looked on this new Broker's Website they had the same apartment listed with a slightly different apartment number as an exclusive. But the video and pictures are clearly of the same apartment from Street Easy (and the one I already saw in person). I've emailed the Broker B to see the apartment. Why might something like this happen? If I feel off about Broker A is it wrong to reach out to Broker B? [less]
