Getting the good out of the way first: our apartment was recently renovated and is generally nice. The front desk people are for the most part nice and helpful, and ditto for the maintenance staff. We probably should have seen the signs when the leasing agent took multiple days to track down for questions or to confirm when our lease would be ready to sign. They also tried to avoid giving us a copy of the lease we had just signed. Anything that the maintenance staff can't fix themselves won't get handled for days. Be wary of living on a high floor because the elevators will break, not get fixed for days, and it will take > 10 minutes to get out of the building. We had water coming out of the wall of our bathroom, and the sound of water running through the walls on a weekend. No one would do anything beyond mopping up the water until Monday. There was a hole in a pipe a couple floors up, and it took at least 3 days to get fixed. Water leaked into our bathroom the entire time. When it comes time to renew the lease, the leasing office becomes completely non-responsive. They will try to jack up the rent and fail to respond to repeated emails and calls. [less]
