My condo building is currently wired for Time Warner Cable only. I get a promotional rate for Internet only and renew it each year and am happy with what I get for the price. If I want to discontinue service, I can, without any penalty. However, there's a motion to replace TWC with Verizon Fios, and if passed by majority vote, the Cable TV and Internet would be included in the monthly HOA fee, and individuals wouldn't be able to choose the package they want, or wouldn't be able to switch packages because it's all pre-negotiated. If this happens, people like me, who don't want Cable TV would likely be paying more money and be subsidizing those who watch Cable TV. And people who don't want any service (these people are probably even more in the minority), would be even worse off. I feel that this is very unfair. I can understand that people may want service that's not TWC, but what this is doing is a bit extreme in the other direction. I'd love to hear other people's opinions on this. [less]
