Discussion about 160 Riverside Boulevard at 160 Riverside Boulevard in Lincoln Square

160 Trump was a relatively pleasant place to live, but the management practices are very unfair. After the first year they began charging me automatically for sewage and water on top of my exorbitant rent. After 2 years of being a hassle-free tenant, the sales office repeatedly ignored my request for an upgrade to a larger unit-I still don’t know why. My rent increased >=8% per year, even though the building just began exterior reconstruction and is truly an eyesore, with scaffolding, port-a-potties and raw sewage smell. After I vacated the unit, money was withheld from my deposit for apartment cleaning and carpet shampooing, although I left the unit in ready to rent condition and this condition was documented on paper at my move out inspection. They also withheld deposit money to “back charge” me for 2 months of sewage and water (!!!) but did not provide me with a utility bill documenting the charges. I have spent weeks contesting the above charges which are still unjustified. Most frustrating of all, the property management office does not reply to phone calls or emails unless it suits them. I have been a Manhattan renter for over a decade and have never had this kind of experience in any property that I have rented. I recommend avoiding the Trump Place buildings. There are many luxury rental buildings in the same neighborhood surrounding Riverside Boulevard and even the same street that are newer, with better amenities, better value, and treat their tenants with respect and basic human courtesy which the Trump management office and Equity Residential sorely lacks.
