This building is in a great location & has an amazing resident manger who lives on the premises. This building is in a great location & has an amazing resident manger who lives on the premises. In the past year there has been major renovations done; many of the once empty units in the building have been fully renovated, I wish the owner would have restored the units rather than renovating. The building has a grand history 580 was once the hang out spot for great poets and writers such as Langston Hughes during the Harlem renaissance. (If you google the building you will find articles and photos of a great party during that period with Langston Hughes on the rooftop of 580) . The new owner has added a laundry room, bike storage and in the process of creating a urban garden/courtyard. The buildings elevator is horrible and needs to be replaced the new owners maybe working on doing so, soon but I am not certain. Heating through the entire building is awful many residences went the enitre winter freezing. The building owner ignored several complaints from multiple residents this past winter- check for yourself on the cities 311 complaint website. Overall 580 has the potential to be an amazing building hope management will resolve the heating issue this coming winter as many new tenants will be in for a shock when the find the temperature outside to be 40 degree as they freeze in their unit or are force to pay huge con ed bills because you will need to buy space heaters or freeze to death [less]
