I thought I'd link streetview's thread to the buiding so doesn't get lost. http://www.streeteasy.com/nyc/talk/discussion/12382-isis-reality-sucks I watched the old tenements on this corner empty out a couple of years ago and then get demolished to make way for the Isis. Things had already started to turn in the market and I remember thinking to myself that they'd level the site and stop, so there would be an empty lot until it made economic sense to build again. (I also thought that in the meantime they might get their hands on one of the neighboring buildings so the project could have a bigger footprint.) Anyway, I didn't go by that corner for a few months and when I finally did I was stunned to see the thing above ground level and rising. I can't imagine who thought it was a good idea to proceed with this. toast indeed. [less]
