upper west side: columbus and 70s

we really like an apartment on the corner of columbus and 70s (not 72nd or 79th) whose bedroom windows are facing the avenue. it's on the 4th floor and the windows are reasonabe in terms of sound insulation (can hear the bus engine). we are concerned about the noise level in the morning rush hour and at night. we are not currently living in this neighborhood so have no idea how bad it can get. really concerned about traffic jam, honking, and fire trucks. can anyone tell us how it is there? thanks a lot.
