I know coops with elevators generally have higher maintenance but had never given much thought to how they add to construction costs. Aren't most low-rise buildings in NYC built with elevators these days: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/08/opinion/elevator-construction-regulation-labor-immigration.html?unlocked_article_code=1.6k0.G85_.xe1tdnYQxyqS&smid=url-share Body size may have a lot to do with the size of elevators in the US vs Europe and elsewhere. Elevators built for 2 or 3 anywhere else will often fit only 1 American
