Please go in knowing…… if you are considering living in this building. While the staff, especially the Super, are amazing, lovely people who will do anything to accommodate you and the residents are nice. There are noise issues between floors. I know this as I lived there as a renter in the E line, where most renters lease from coop owners. The tenants above me have young children, as there are many schools next door, down the block, one block over and so on, so parents are eager to live in these buildings nearby. I’m all in favor of kids——- kids who have been raised with rules and have learned to respect their common neighbors. The tenants in 7E do not believe in rules with their kids at all, in fact they will tell you that “they don’t tell them kids how to act prior to their bad behaviors, they can only tell them “NO” after they’ve made others mad” with their constant screaming and pounding in an apartment building. The owner of my unit had the exact same issue with her daughter who lived here before me in 6E, who subsequently moved out due to the non-disciplined family above (have lived there at least since 2010 and it’s 2023). I cannot escape the all day screaming and pounding—-I too must move out, although I really like the area. The owner of the unit is again trying to sell it to someone—— she asked me to consider buying it but NO WAY!!! Many n the building talk about the noise between floors, not between next door neighbors. I recommend paying a structural engineer to check decibel levels in the evening prior to 9pm when kids go to bed on a weeknight during the school year——- don’t move here unless you have serious hearing issues or unless the owner of the unit above you has PROFESSIONALLY soundproofed it and you’ve checked you can stand it. Good luck. [less]
