money transfer hacking

Hi, As we think more about an actual closing on our condo, I wonder about those money transfers that can be hacked. My last one took 2 weeks to transfer from our closing to our account. I was soo scared. Some of these have been hacked, and money stolen. If such a thing should happen, who is liable? It seems to me that the banks transfer service is liable, and they can buy insurance cheaply to cover such a rare occurrence. However, I would expect they would try to pass it off on the seller or buyer? Does anyone know what has happened in the past legally? is there anyway for the buyer and seller to protect themselves? Thanks!
