Discussion about 450 West 46th Street in Hell's Kitchen
Do NOT rent in this building or the adjacent which is the same complex. There is NO live-in Super. As a matter of fact, there is NO Super at all. Do NOT rent in this building or the adjacent which is the same complex. There is NO live-in Super. As a matter of fact, there is NO Super at all. In the 2 1/2 years I've lived here, I've never seen a Super - EVER. Whenever I needed assistance with something, I had to reach out to the management company because the "Super" never answered the phone and voicemail was always full. The management company would send a "porter", who also does not live on premises. He was an extremely old, frail man who was intoxicated each time he came. Also, the building management illegally demolished the entrances of both buildings to "remodel" and were shut down by the city. It has been left in a state of chaos and incomplete work for a 1-year now. Tenants were never given notice about the "remodel" and there has not been one single update from management on the state of the building. The stairwells are very old and dirty and are RARELY ever swept or mopped. I have NEVER seen anyone cleaning the building. I recently had 2 packages stolen from the mailbox area. When I reached out to the management company (Jack Baradarian who oversees the building apparently) told me there are no working security cameras in the building because of the "renovation". Someone has recently been placing plastic inside the door lock jam to keep it from locking so they can get in and out without a key. When I told him about this, he said, "sorry about the stolen packages. I'd love to learn who is rigging the lock." and that was it. The apartments in this building are not worth the $2300+ per month with the state of the building. STAY AWAY! Clearly, these are slum lords taking advantage of people and misleading them about "renovations" and having a Super in-name on paper only, never cleaning the building, letting garbage and debris build up, no security cameras. There are better places to live. The ONLY thing I will say is that I have never had a problem with hot water and my heat and they exterminator comes every first Saturday. But, everything else is not worth the price. Who wants to walk into what looks like a crack den building every day at $2,400 per month? [less]
