The owner offered me half of my security deposit when I moved out despite the apartment being in good condition. Some of the many court cases against the owner and his shell corporation TJ Montana can be found with Google. A lawyer told me that the owner is a disbarred lawyer, and he used his knowledge of the legal system to make it difficult for me to recover the money he owed me. Also he wrote a higher rent amount than what I paid in a contract, with a rider for the correct amount. I suspect that he wants to mislead potential buyers of the property.
