Building: The Rutheford

The Rutherfurd is an architecturally significant turn of the century New York apartment building. Designed by Gaetan Ajello, its Neo-classical light colored brick and limestone façade graces the corner of Riverside Drive at 108th Street. A non-doorman building, the resident manager lives on-site and there is laundry, a bike room and storage in the basement. The Co-op is pet friendly and allows pied-a-terres.

Across from the Rutherfurd is Riverside Park with its many attractions. There are tennis courts at 96th and 118th Streets. If you are a biker, at 96th Street is the entrance to the Hudson River Greenway, which runs from the Battery to the Bronx. If you are a serious runner, the path up to the George Washington bridge a is a scenic 7 miles. And if you are a dog owner, Riverside Park is paradise.

The Rutherfurd enjoys the benefits of being adjacent to the campus of Columbia University with The Miller Theater, renowned for its theatrical productions, The Bloomingdale School of Music, which has concerts as well as instruction for children and adults and The Lenfest Center for the Arts, a dynamic new Renzo Piano building at 125th Street. Commuting by mass transit is easy from this Upper West Side location. The Broadway IRT is within a block of the Rutherfurd and there are 3 bus lines at 110th Street including the No. 4, which takes you to Fifth Avenue and the Met Museum.
