Building: The Beresford

The Beresford, located at 211 Central Park West, between West 81st and 82nd Sts, is a twenty-two story Cooperative built by Architect Emery Roth in the Renaissance Revival style and was completed in 1929. It offers one to seven-bedroom residences, many with incomparable views of Central Park. The ultra-luxury CPW building offers an internal courtyard and is topped by three octagonal towers reminiscent of a majestic castle on its northeast, southwest, and southeast corners. It is an elegant, full service, white-glove co-op found within the Upper West Sides Central Park Historic District which runs from 61st to 97th Sts. on the famed Central Park West. This stunning designation of elegant pre-war style buildings was added to the National Registry in 1982 and is like no other avenue in the city.
