Building: 924 West End Avenue

924 West End Avenue—The Clebourne, is the grande dame of West End Avenue and sits on the site of the mansion of Isidor and Ida Straus who were passengers on the fateful maiden voyage of the Titanic. A memorial to them is one block north where Straus Park sits in the triangle between West End Avenue and Broadway just north of West 106th Street. Built in 1913 by Schwartz & Gross with distinctive Arts and Crafts detail on the exterior.
Its handsome porte-cochere creates a sense of privacy off of the avenue with its entrance on West 105th Street. The Clebourne with its three elevator landings affords its residents the additional privacy of only two apartments per landing or in the case of the “3” line its own private elevator landing. The building offers classic 6, 7, 8, and 9 room apartments. The Clebourne was incorporated in 1974 and features 65 apartments and allows for 75% financing.
