Building: 755 West End Avenue

755 West End Avenue, an intimate 15-story building situated on the Southwest corner of West 97th Street and West End Avenue, was built in 1925 and converted to cooperative ownership in 1984. Designed by the renowned architect Rosario Candela, the style is similar to several others of his design on West End Avenue. The red brick façade is highly decorative, enhanced by elegant architectural details including limestone and terra cotta trim around windows, pilasters at the base topped by carved urns, balustrade-like projections, and urn carvings on many window lintels.

There are 48 apartments, with each floor consisting of three apartments, two with six rooms and one with seven rooms. The apartment layouts are spacious and airy, with multiple exposures, large entrance galleries and ample closet space. Architectural details include high ceilings, intricate plaster moldings, French doors and patterned hardwood floors. All units have butlers’ pantries and maids’ rooms.

Building amenities include full-time doormen, a live-in superintendent, children’s playroom, laundry facilities, storage and bike rooms. Pets are permitted, and 70% financing is allowed.
