Building: 371 Ft Washington Avenue

371 Fort Washington Avenue was built in 1924 with its sister buildings 353 & 359. Each of the three buildings feature lions head masonry along their rooflines.

Of the three, 371‘s grand lobby is the one that retains its original stained glass windows and brass apartment doors, creating a warm and impressive entrance for residents and their guests. Each floor has hallways that nearly span the length of the building, bringing in light and open space for residents as they leave and enter.

A founding member of the Hudson Heights Owners Coalition, 371 Fort Washington features a wonderful live-in super, community room, laundry room and a storage room with lockers and bike storage.

Additionally the building has plans to be fully ADA accessible in the near future, and is across the street from an ADA accessible subway entrance, and one block away from the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal, which will also be fully ADA accessible by the end of 2013.

371 Fort Washington also features a new high-pressure water pumping system which allows for strong steady streams of water in showers, sinks, bathtubs and appliances. The building is in the process of converting from oil to gas, and will retain the option of using oil in the future should energy costs change.

The building takes great pride in the trees and plantings along its sidewalks. Centrally located, the A-train is on the same corner as the building’s entrance, as is the M4 bus stop. Its convenient location provides easy access to Riverside Drive, the Henry Hudson Parkway, I-95, the George Washington Bridge, New England, the FDR, RFK Bridge and Long Island.

Nearby services include a farmer’s market on 175th Street, two parking garages one block away on Broadway, nearby gyms, cleaners, gourmet markets, grocery stores and a variety of shopping and restaurants on Broadway, 181st Street, and around New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Surrounded by parks, 371 is one block from J. Hood Wright Park and a few blocks from Fort Washington Park. Bennett Park and Fort Tryon Park are also just up the street. To the east is High Bridge Park, with its mountain biking trails, skatepark, playing fields and swimming pools.
