334 West 85th Street is a lovely pre-war cooperative located on the south side of West 85th Street between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive, making it convenient to Riverside Park and the 1 train at 86th and Broadway. The brick and limestone building was built in 1895 as two separate but attached buildings and later combined into a single structure in 1913; it was then converted to coop in 1982. The building has 5 floors plus a basement with an elevator and stairwell. Originally built with 20 units there are now 18 as 2 have been combined. There are laundry facilities and bicycle storage in the basement and each apartment comes with its own sizeable basement storage unit. A courtyard exists in the rear of the building for shareholder use with seating and plantings in the spring and summer. There is no underlying mortgage on the cooperative and the building is very well run and managed. The superintendent is on call and pets are welcome.
