Building: 102 West 75th Street

Located on the southwest corner of 75th Street and Columbus Avenue, The Del Monte was built in 1891; it has just undergone a renovation of all the hallways and the lobby, staying quite true to its original design. The Del Monte was designed as a 7 story Renaissance/Romanesque Revival
Style building by architect Gilbert Schellinger. The original design, with 10 foot ceilings, consisted of only 5 units per floor; however, during the economic downturn of the past century most all the units were subdivided. The building was converted converted to cooperative in 1985. In recent years a growing number of these homes are being re-combined to make larger, family-sized homes. It is an elevator building with video Security, live-in super, bike room and laundry room. This intimate building now consists of 52 units and is located just a few blocks from 1, 2 & 3 Trains, cross-town buses, Fairway, Citarella, the Natural History Museum and Central Park.
