Discussion about 119 Christopher Street in West Village
Lived here a while ago and wanted to document the experience I had in this building. Lived here a while ago and wanted to document the experience I had in this building. Pros: -Great location in the West Village, transit is nearby at the Christopher Red Line Stop & West 4th -Tons of trendy bars (sometimes overcrowded), great restaurant scene -West Side Highway a few blocks away! -Entrance way / front hallway is nice Cons: -Landlord is cheap and you will notice it in some areas (don't scuff the walls or they WILL bill you - excessively. I never had this happen to me as most landlords paint anyways when new tenants move in but they decided to bill us the entire painting job and take it out of our security deposit. Lovely. -Cockroaches, especially the alley facing units, expect them, be prepared, block your drain cover if you leave for an extended -Heat - you are either 95 degrees or 5 degrees - we lost heat at least 3-4 times last winter, on the days we weren't cold we were roasting, had both my windows open for most of the winter -Views - if you live in the secondary bedroom and below the 4th floor, you will never see the sun, and you will look directly into the neighbors. I repeat you will almost never see the sun and the light you get will be very indirect -Dryer venting - something I've never experienced before but I know is common in NYC, the dryer vents directly into the apartment, basically you can count on it being humid, hot, and the dryer stopping every 15 minutes because of this. I wasted more time doing my laundry than it was worth, if you live here, consider sending it out -Noise - Mostly quiet, if your neighbors are. The walls are thin and you will notice it -Front door lock - This broke several times and I think someone else in the building put in a complaint against them, it got fixed after that [less]
