We are the last tenant of the unit. We lived in the premise for 15 months from Nov 21- Feb 22 with our 2 year old son. We were subject to Landlord’s constant harassment starting from the first month of our residency. Landlord persistently threatened us to leave the premise every time dealing with repairs which covered pretty much the entire length of our stay at the premise. She would call us and make my wife cry with her threats. We had a 1 year contract with option to renew. In 2022. When it came to renew landlord refused to renew under false premise she wanted to take possession for personal use. We had to offer $300 over our contract and this time we signed a 2 year lease starting December 2022 till December 2024. In December in the first month of a 2 year lease when the heating unit broke down the land lord asked us to pay $2,500 towards repairs. When we mentioned this is against NYC law she asked us to leave since she will now sell the unit. Having been fed up with the constant harassment and abuse we finally moved out on March 2022 only 3 months into the new 2 year lease. On the day of our moving the landlord showed up at the premise and attacked my wife. We had to call the police and file a report. Luckily the movers were there and removed her from the premise. Feel free to ask the neighbor and the super or the building staff about our horrific experience in hands of the malicious landlord. We loved the building and the staff but the landlord made our life a living hell. This is a list of what we suffered: • Landlord refusal to provide child protection guards against NY law. • Untimely repair of defective items: o 4 months for a defective balcony door documented as defective prior to our move in. Only changed the balcony door which had a noticeable gap when the storm brought in snow into half of living room. o 45 days for a flooded bedroom which effectively rendered our apartment as a one bedroom while collecting full rent. o 4.5 months for defective dishwasher documented as defective prior to our move in. o 11 months for defective microwave documented as defective prior to our move in. • No light in the child bathroom. Landlord refused to install bathroom light. Installed light at own expense. Please feel free the verify our information. We do not want anyone to suffer like us. During our stay we also discovered the landlord has a history of tenant abuse which no one told us before moving. [less]
