Staff at Citi Habitats (207 W 115th street) have really screwed me over. I am four days from when I was supposed to move into my apartment, and your agents told me yesterday (after I have signed a lease, and made my payments) that it is no longer an option. I did the application and was approved for this apartment back in June. I was told it was likely I could move in July. However shortly after that was adjusted to August 1st. While annoying and disheartening, I was flexible with the change in the move date and found somewhere to stay for the month os July. I signed a lease in early July and made my payments of my first month’s rent and security deposit to your agents. But when it came time to get the keys for my move in, the agent was dodgy and didn’t respond for, sometimes, two days. They waited until the last minute to tell me that the building was no longer available and even admitted to trying to work with the landlord to get me in a cheaper rent and that they have had issues with him from the start – which means that not only did they have me do an application for a faulty situation, THEY KNEW and tried to finesse it at the expense of my time and my livelihood. When I arrived yesterday, the manager at your office was rude to me and continually raised his voice while they frantically tried to correct the situation. I ultimately left, because the tone and the constant sharing of how they’ve “lost money too” made me really uncomfortable. I currently have all of my stuff in storage (because of the first time the date changed) and will have to leave the place I have been staying for the last month, with nowhere to go as of yet. Because its the end of the month, and things like I turned over $4400 three weeks ago my rental application materials (like my credit check, and bank statements) will now be incomplete and only further make it likely that I will not be able to find somewhere to live. I’m really appalled at this situation and lack of integrity of this business and staff. I am totally screwed here. [less]
