The building is in need of extensive safety and cosmetic repairs and updates. The internal building staircase up to the 4th level is collapsing from neglect, the internal stairs leading to the basement storage level are collapsing, the hot water system (boilers) are failing and not delivering hot water to all the units, and the front facade is peeling away due to extensive decay and overdue repairs and maintain. In addition, the garbage from PS 87 directly across the street is piled up and spills in to the street all week. One day in June I estimated there was at least 50 bags of garbage and 3 garbage cans piled in to the street. Despite 18 months of repeated calls to the City and a video of the scene sent by e-mail detailing the garbage piled high and wide the problem has not changed and there is no path to resolution. [less]
