Anyone think Sunset Park will become a desirable neighborhood? Several Coop residents I know say it will be gentrified within 10 years but I don't think they're being realistic. Anyone think Sunset Park will become a desirable neighborhood? Several Coop residents I know say it will be gentrified within 10 years but I don't think they're being realistic. By gentrifier, I mean, anyone who speaks English, has higher education, likes a mix of - nice restaurants, convenient amenities, whole foods like grocery options and other nice shopping options, and, who value safety, civic duty, hygiene, historic neighborhood preservation over shoddy new construction, etc. The Chinese and Hispanic residents are entrenched and already have what they want on 5th and 8th avenues. Some Hispanics will sell or be priced out but less so for Chinese. I see the waterfront eventually becoming a desirable place, but the rest I don't see changing drastically.
