I have lived in 250 West 19th Street, now called "The Grove" for the past 3 years. My Husband and I have loved living in our 1 bedroom here (Studio APT with a wall). The doormen and super are all amazing, and the old management company was great too (B&L). However, since the new management company has taken over the following has happened, if you are looking at this building please read the below and be advised! 1) We are moving out because our rent has increased by 35%, INSANE! They are now calling these "luxury apartments" which is odd since the building has no new amenities and the management company is actually HORRIBLE about fixing anything! 2) Since Greystar has taken over they are gutting every apartment, and re-doing every hallway, sounds great right? You love hearing nonstop construction on weekends starting at 9am, right? You love strange workmen wandering the hallways and taking up every elevator, right? Only move here if that sounds appealing to you! 3) LASTLY we have had a constant leak right above our bed for the past 3 years. However the old management company was quick to fix and respond to the problem. This is NOT the case with greystar. They are negligent and are just waiting us out until we move out. Please please don't waste $5,000 a month living in this building, you can find much better run buildings for the same price. Also please look at the pricing history here, when B&L owned the building, the most expensive unit was $3,350. Renters beware!!!! [less]
