Building: Villa Charlotte Bronte

Designed in 1926 by Robert W. Gardner, the architect who also designed the Staten Island Museum, Villa Charlotte Bronte takes on the look of a set of Italian villas. You’ll forget that you’re still in NYC. Perched on a hill above the Hudson River, many of the 17 units overlook the picturesque Palisades. A network of pathways, which lead you through charming stone archways and a central courtyard, exist throughout for residents to get to their apartment. The landscape is effortlessly integrated into the design and flow of the complex. While you are here, it will truly feel like you have been transported to beautiful Italy.

Each apartment is different from the rest; they each have their own unique floor plan. All units have a private entrance, wood-burning fireplace, and at least three exposures. Most of the apartments still even have the original woodwork. The exterior of each unit is covered in stucco with a tiled roof, giving the apartments a true Italian appearance.

Located in Spuyten Duyvil, Villa Charlotte Bronte is a short five minute walk away from the Metro North station and within 20 minutes you can be at Grand Central Station.
