It was built in 1888-90 and was commissioned by prominent Scottish-American jeweler William Moir as a real estate investment. It was designed by the versatile New York architectural firm of D.

The Wilbraham at 284 5th Avenue is a beautiful pre-war co-op building situated on the corner of 5th Avenue and West 30th Street in NoMad. It was built in 1888-90 and was commissioned by prominent Scottish-American jeweler William Moir as a real estate investment. It was designed by the versatile New York architectural firm of D. & J. Jardine. The eight-story building was awarded a landmark status on June 8th of 2004 and is clad in a handsome combination of Philadelphia brick, Belleville brownstone, and cast iron. The Wilbraham is extraordinarily well-detailed and reflects the influence of the Romanesque Revival style in the rock-faced stonework and intricately carved stone detail.
