THE SMITH Built in 2007, 87 Smith Street is a 50-unit, 13-story elevator building perfectly positioned at the intersection of Downtown Brooklyn and Boerum Hill. All the charm of Brownstone Brooklyn is steps away to the south while the convenience of transportation is steps to the north. The building is shared with the Nu Hotel, a chic, European style hotel with interiors designed by Nick Dine. Dine also created the contemporary, minimalist interiors at 87 Smith with 9’+ ceilings, 4” wide plank floors, and top of the line kitchen appliances and finishes. Heat and air are provided by individual units in each room, and there is private laundry in the apartment. Gas is included in the common charges and electricity is submetered and added as a line item to the monthly statement. The building has as a 15-year tax abatement in effect through June 2022. Other conveniences include a part-time doorman, newly renovated lobby, bike room at no charge, a rental garage and access to the hotel gym for a monthly fee. The top floor penthouses have set back terraces.
