Building: The Cass Gilbert

Welcome to the Cass Gilbert, a landmarked, prewar, luxury boutique condo in NoMad designed by the renowned American architect, Cass Gilbert, whose commissions included the Woolworth Building, the New York Life Building on Madison Square Park, and the U.S. Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C.

Constructed between 1927 to 1928, The Cass Gilbert is notable for its “wedding cake” architectural style with numerous set backs and the use of architectural terra cotta friezes with Assyrian-inspired motifs. Originally developed as offices and manufacturing space for businesses moving to the fur district, the building has intimate floors of just 2 to 3 apartments, each with soaring 11 foot ceiling heights and spacious layouts. The interiors were designed by Shamir Shah, the highly regarded NYC designer, and include calacatta marble in the bathrooms and kitchens, Sub-Zero refrigerators, thoughtful layouts for modern living and large windows that flood the apartments with light.

The Cass Gilbert condominium is a doorman building, with service 7 days a week. It is located in NoMad, one of NYC’s most desirable neighborhoods and a crossroads for contemporary art, design, fashion, and cuisine. It is walking distance to the Ace Hotel, Madison Square Park, Eataly, and the High Line entrance on West 30th Street, and has a Blink gym directly across the street.
