The Bar Building:

The Bar Building, a “Class B+” office building located at 36 West 44th street, was built in 1922 from a design by one of the era’s most prominent commercial architects, Severance and Van Alen. Creators of such New York City landmarks as the Manhattan Trust Building and the iconic Chrysler Building, Severance and Van Alen employed their signature Art Deco style in the design of 36 West 44th Street. The building maintains many of its original details, while providing the amenities, conveniences and technological capabilities of modern offices, with twenty-four-hour access and a full service staff.

The Location:
The Bar Building is ideally located in the center of the most sought-after block in the Grand Central submarket. Historic West 44th Street, between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, is the home to the Harvard Club, the Penn Club, the New York City Yacht Club, the New York City Bar Association, the Royalton Hotel, The New Yorker Building, the Hippodrome, and the historic Algonquin Hotel. Located within a few blocks from the building are Grand Central Station, the Yale Club, Time Square, Bryant Park and the New York Public Library, Cipriani 42nd Street, and countless other restaurants, attractions and event spaces, as well as access to every major Manhattan subway line. The building’s centrality and accessibility is indispensable for any professional office or firm, and the Grand Central submarket has distinguished itself as the premier business location in Midtown, creating economic advantages for a wide variety of industries. Recent years have witnessed rapid development, including 1095 Sixth Avenue and Bank of America’s massive One Bryant Park.
