Built in 2014, the Art House at 148 First Street in downtown Jersey City is a modern construction with 119 units across 13 stories. Planned by local architectural firm LWDMR and developed by the Shuster Group, the Art House has a distinctive, geometrically designed façade with colorful windows and blocky shapes defining its silhouette in the Jersey City skyline. New York firm Fogarty Finger contributed to the design of the exterior of the building, as well as the apartment layouts.

The ground level of 148 First Street is devoted to commercial space, and the units above range from studios to two-plus bedroom spaces, with square footage ranging from about 450 to about 1,140 square feet. The apartments come with custom-colored oak hardwood flooring, stone countertops and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, and porcelain tile finishing in the bathroom. Some units also come with outdoor space, such as a private garden or terrace. The building itself has a full-time concierge desk, as well as amenities like a bike room, yoga room, fitness center, lounge, pool, common rooftop deck, and even an art gallery, as the name might imply.

The Art House is centrally located in the downtown area of Jersey City, and is convenient to public bus services as well as PATH trains. Within a few minutes’ walk are plenty of local dining and shopping options, as well as fitness centers, grocery stores, and the Hudson River waterfront, with a view of New York City on the opposite shore.
