Building: Public School 9 Annex

Built in 1895 out of the necessity to alleviate overcrowding at PS 9 (now PS340) across the street, Public School 9 Annex is located at the corner of Vanderbilt Avenue and was designed by James W. Naughton and is a designated New York City landmark that resides in the Prospect Heights Historic District. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style this 100 ft x 110 ft building, made of brick, sandstone and terra cotta also has neo-classical elements. The 22 unit co-op was created in 1989 and each unit features impressive ceiling heights and extremely tall windows. Built on a 106 ft x 175 ft lot, it has 4 floors, elevator, a common courtyard and parking.

Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Central Library, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, The Brooklyn Museum, The Saturday Farmer’s Market and the Park Slope neighborhood are just a stone’s throw away. The 2,3 are the closest subway lines but the B,Q and 4,5 trains are also nearby.
