Description

Flashback….the year was 1960, average income was $5,199 the cost of a new automobile was just $2,275 and a gallon of gas was only 25 cents. My Three Sons Premiers on CBS and the country was laughing and sharing quality family time while sitting around watching Candid Camera.

Flashback….the year was 1960, average income was $5,199 the cost of a new automobile was just $2,275 and a gallon of gas was only 25 cents. My Three Sons Premiers on CBS and the country was laughing and sharing quality family time while sitting around watching Candid Camera. Chubby Checkers #1 hit had everyone dancing and doing the Twist! The Beatles arrived in the states and they rocked their way into our lives and are still enjoyed by so many; both young and old.

Just like the Beatles, The Bell Apartments, formerly known as Belle Bay Apartments, were taken by storm. Central Air Conditioning and mammoth sized rooms were just a a few of the attributes. Times were certainly different way back then but what seems to have endured in time is the beauty and the wonderful features of The Bell Apartments. They remained a rental complex until 1985 and the concept of home ownership began for many who purchased their apartment and now owned a piece of the pie.

Nestled over 14 rolling acres are 5 buildings which constitute home to over 300 families. Each 1, 2, & 3 bedroom layout is unique and all apartments offer large rooms, central air/heat and eat in kitchens. Some even have 2 baths. Located within a short walk is the Bay Terrace Shopping Center where you can find it all. Many well known stores, banks, restaurants, and a large movie theater are within walking distance. A hop and a skip to the bus stop will take you to midtown Manhattan or Flushing Main Street. The LIRR is just a short ride away.

What was considered a gem back in 1960 still remains one of the most sought out cooperatives in North Bayside.
