House: 77 Prospect Place

Created in 2004 by architect Philippe Baumann, the design encompasses an original 1899 carriage house, with additional articulated steel frames introduced to construct new upper floors. Using natural materials such as gorgeous Heart of Pine wide-plank floors and cedar ceilings, as well as multiple skylights (including a 30’ long skylight to pull down light and dramatically illuminate the Living Room) the aesthetic is at once spacious and contemporary, with a warm and gracious feel, while traditional elements such as the original brick and timber walls, extra wide staircases, and exposed black steel beams all recall the property’s earlier historic incarnations.
