House: 66 Bedford Street

66 Bedford Street along with its neighboring house 64 Bedford Street was built in 1821.. According to the DaytoninManhattan, “When Bedford Street was laid out in 1799, the Village of Greenwich was a sleepy hamlet. In 1819, merchant Isaac Jaques purchased land which included three building lots at 64 through 68. Working with masons, James Vandenberg and Isaac Feeman, he filled the parcels with three identical, Federal Style homes.” Today two of the homes 66 and 64 have been combined boasting a 37.5’ expanse on a 131-foot long lot with two gardens that magically lead to a charming, architecturally significant Carriage House. The Carriage House has a private driveway located at 48-52 Seventh Avenue. All structures have been fully restored and renovated to perfection combining the architectural details of the the original builders along with a bespoke design by Deborah Berke Partners. This one-of-a kind compound is a treasured piece of history in the heart of Greenwich Village’s landmarked district. This West Village home is a bucolic oasis.
