Building: 521 West 47th Street

The building was originally built as a garage for automobiles in the 1920s and then was converted to a bakery sometime thereafter. The area is still known for its bakeries including Amy’s and Sullivan Street Bakery which is on the block. In 1985 the building was converted to 16 Coop apartments at which time wood burning fireplaces were added so that every apartment has one. The 4 story building includes two duplex penthouses, and one triplex penthouse, each with private outdoor space. In 2017 the building refinanced its underlying mortgage and currently has a healthy reserve fund. Virtual doorman and video intercom were recently added. The lobby and hallways will undergo a renovation in 2018/2019. There is a laundry room, though most apartments have washer and dryers. The building is pet friendly and has a liberal sublet policy.
