Building: 4 Sutton Place

4 Sutton Place is considered to be one of the most prestigious buildings in Sutton Place. Erected in 1928, 4 Sutton was designed by the esteemed Italian American architect, Rosario Candela and New York City Society’s architectural firm of choice, Cross & Cross. Rosario Candela is credited with defining New York City’s signature penthouses and his buildings have become some of New York’s most coveted addresses.

With its charming, 14-story, red brick façade with two story limestone base, sophisticated door-manned lobby, and lovely sidewalk landscaping, it is no wonder the 4 Sutton Place cooperative has found its way on to the list of top Candela-designed buildings. Each of the 10 units in this charming cooperative enjoys a significant amount of light and air due to the building’s high ceilings and position on the low-rise, townhouse block.

4 Sutton is conveniently located near many restaurants, various health clubs, and a beautiful park overlooking the East River. Additionally there is excellent cross-town bus service near the building and the 4,5,6, M, F, and E subway lines are located a short walk away.
