This Historic District, composed of eight architecturally significant buildings, counts the renowned Hotel des Artist among its peers. The Artists’ Colony buildings were erected in the early part of the 20th Century by and for artists and “those who wished to live in an artistic milieu.” No. 39 West 67th , called The Colonial Studios, was built in 1906-7 by architects Pollard & Steinam. This is the only structure of the group not ornamented with Gothic forms; its facade features unusual, prominent, metal bays along with simple Renaissance details, in keeping with the notable architecture of the block.

The beautiful limestone Co-op currently houses 28 apartments on 15 floors ranging from studios to 3 BRs, several having been combined for stunning results.
