Building: 345 West 13th Street

345 West 13th Street is the premier full-service condominium in the West Village. Developed by Hudson for sale in 1999, 345 West 13th Street was converted from its former manufacturing use into 46 loft residences. Originally built in 1890 for the Astor Estate, it is located at the corner of Hudson and West 13th Street, with dramatic vistas of the West Village, Lower Manhattan and the Hudson River.

345 West 13th Street was well-suited for luxury loft residential units with interior design retaining the historic flavor of a turn-of-the-century industrial facility. The open floor plan featured exposed masonry walls, brick arches, decorative cast iron, wood columns, heavy timber beams and steel shutters. The exterior features include a dramatic metal cornice, detailed metal panels, attractive brick pilasters, flouted metal mullions and a tremendous number of window openings to bring natural light into the interior of the building.

345 West 13th Street arrived at a critical time in the evolution of the Meatpacking District and is now seen as one of the initial catalysts in that neighborhood’s development.
