Building: 302 West 12th Street

302 West 12th, along with it’s sister building (299 West 12th) were constructed in 1929 by developers, Bing and Bing as a luxury apartment building. Designed by prolific architect Boak and Paris, apartments in this building as well as at 299 West 12th, command huge premiums over neighboring buildings.

Converted in 1986, it houses 129 units, features a full time doorman and a planted roof deck with spectacular views over the West Village Historic district and west to the Hudson River.

Apartment sizes range from Studios to 3 Bedrooms, though many of the original units are 1 or 2 bedroom apartments. The beauty of Emery Roth’s designs were that he created studios, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms as such, with beautiful proportions. Unlike other areas where this size apartment was cut up from larger apartments, the flows are natural.

Located opposite the beautifully restored Abingdon Square Park, it is close to all restaurants, the Hudson River Park and transportation.
